PAN Card Services
New PAN applications, corrections and reprints for individuals and entities.
PAN is the ten-character identifier the income tax department issues to every taxpayer. It is required to file a return, to open a bank or demat account, to buy or sell property above the prescribed value, and for most significant financial transactions.
Beyond a fresh application, most of the work here is correction — a spelling that does not match Aadhaar, a wrong date of birth, or a father’s name entered differently from the school record. Those mismatches sit quietly until they block something, usually a bank account or a property registration.
Charges on enquiry
This service is quoted case by case, because the work depends on your documents, the authority involved and the timeline you need. Send us a short note and we will confirm the professional charges and the government fees in writing before starting.
What we handle
- Fresh PAN for individuals, including minors
- PAN for firms, LLPs, companies, trusts and societies
- Correction of name, date of birth, father’s name or photograph
- Reprint of a lost or damaged card, with the same number
- Aadhaar and PAN linking, and resolving mismatches that block it
- Surrender of a duplicate PAN held in error
Aadhaar linking is not optional
PAN must be linked to Aadhaar. An unlinked PAN becomes inoperative, and while it is inoperative you cannot file a return, refunds are withheld, and tax is deducted from your income at the higher rate applicable where PAN is not furnished.
Linking fails where the name, date of birth or gender differ between the two records. The fix is to correct whichever record is wrong first — which is why correction work and linking usually go together.
Holding two PANs is an offence
It happens innocently enough — an application made twice, or a fresh application filed instead of a correction. But holding more than one PAN attracts a penalty under Section 272B of the Income Tax Act.
The remedy is to surrender the duplicate and retain one, which we handle. It is far better done voluntarily than discovered during an assessment.
How we handle it
- 1 Identifying what is needed We establish whether the position calls for a fresh PAN, a correction, a reprint or a surrender, since applying wrongly wastes both fee and time.
- 2 Checking consistency Your name and date of birth are checked across Aadhaar and existing records, because a mismatch is what causes rejection.
- 3 Filing The application is filed with the supporting documents and the prescribed fee.
- 4 Verification Aadhaar-based verification is completed, or physical documents are dispatched where that route applies.
- 5 Allotment and delivery The PAN is allotted, the e-PAN sent to you, and the physical card follows by post.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if my PAN is not linked to Aadhaar?
It becomes inoperative. You cannot file a return, refunds are held back, and tax is deducted from your income at the higher rate that applies when PAN is not furnished.
Can I hold two PANs?
No. It attracts a penalty under Section 272B. If you hold a duplicate, surrender it and retain one — voluntarily is much better than having it surface in an assessment.
Does a correction change my PAN number?
No. The number stays the same. Only the particulars printed on the card and held in the record are corrected.
Can a minor have a PAN?
Yes. The application is made through a parent or guardian, and the card is issued without a photograph or signature until the child turns eighteen.
Do partnership firms and companies need their own PAN?
Yes. Every entity assessed separately needs its own PAN, distinct from the PANs of its partners, directors or trustees. A proprietorship is the exception, since it uses the proprietor’s PAN.
What is not included. Government fees, statutory charges, stamp duty, court and registry fees, digital signature costs and any third-party professional charges are separate and payable at actuals. GST applies on professional fees where indicated. Prices shown are indicative and may change without notice; we confirm the total in writing before any work begins — see our terms on pricing.
