ISO Certificate Issuance
Audit and issuance of the certificate itself once your management system is assessed as conforming.
Certification against an ISO standard is issued by a certification body after auditing your management system. The certificate itself is the output, but what it represents is an assessment that the system you describe is the system you actually operate.
The single most consequential decision is which certification body issues it. An accredited certificate carries weight with customers and tender authorities; an unaccredited one is cheaper, faster, and frequently rejected by the very party who asked for it.

Accreditation is the whole question
A certification body should itself be accredited by a member of the International Accreditation Forum. In India that usually means accreditation by NABCB, and internationally by an equivalent national body.
Certificates from unaccredited bodies exist in large numbers and are marketed on price and speed. Before buying one, establish what your customer or tender actually requires, because discovering the certificate is not accepted after paying for it is the common outcome.
The standards businesses most often need
- ISO 9001 — quality management, the most frequently requested in tenders
- ISO 14001 — environmental management
- ISO 45001 — occupational health and safety
- ISO 22000 — food safety management
- ISO 27001 — information security management
- ISO 13485 — quality management for medical devices
What the audit actually examines
- Documented policies, procedures and their scope
- Records showing the system operating in practice
- Internal audit conducted and findings closed out
- Management review held, with decisions recorded
- Objectives set and progress measured against them
- Corrective actions raised, investigated and closed
- Competence and training of the people operating the system
Certification is not a one-off purchase
A certificate is typically valid for three years, conditional on surveillance audits at roughly twelve and twenty-four months, and a recertification audit before expiry.
Certificates are suspended or withdrawn more often for missed surveillance audits than for system failures. Treating certification as an annual obligation rather than a purchase is what keeps it valid.
How we handle it
- 1 Establishing the requirement We confirm which standard your customer or tender actually requires, and whether an accredited certificate is needed.
- 2 Gap assessment Current practice is assessed against the standard so you know what must change before an auditor attends.
- 3 Documentation The manual and procedures are developed around how you actually work rather than from a template.
- 4 Internal audit The internal audit and management review the standard requires are conducted and recorded.
- 5 Certification audit The body conducts the stage one and stage two audits, and we support you through both.
- 6 Certificate and surveillance The certificate is issued and the annual surveillance audits scheduled so it stays valid.
Frequently asked questions
What is an accredited certificate?
One issued by a certification body accredited by a recognised accreditation body such as NABCB. Unaccredited certificates cost less and are frequently rejected by the customer or tender that asked for certification.
How long does certification last?
Typically three years, conditional on surveillance audits at roughly twelve and twenty-four months. Missing a surveillance audit can lead to suspension before the three years are up.
Can a very small business be certified?
Yes. The standards scale to the organisation. A small firm needs a proportionate system, not the documentation set of a large manufacturer.
Do you issue the certificate?
No, and no consultant legitimately can. We prepare your system and manage the process; the certificate comes from an independent certification body after its audit.
Is ISO certification legally required?
No, it is voluntary. It becomes effectively compulsory when a customer or a tender requires it, which is why most businesses pursue it.
What is not included. Government fees, statutory charges, stamp duty, court and registry fees, digital signature costs and any third-party professional charges are separate and payable at actuals.
