Advocate Consultation

A paid session with an advocate on a civil, corporate or property matter, in Marathi or English.

Some questions need an advocate rather than a form. Whether a notice you have received is serious, whether an agreement someone has sent you is safe to sign, whether you have a case worth pursuing, or what the realistic outcome of a dispute is.

A paid consultation gives you a defined session with an advocate and a written note afterwards. It is often the cheapest step in a matter, because it establishes early whether litigation is worth starting at all.

The questions worth asking

The most valuable thing to establish early is not whether you are right but whether the remedy is worth pursuing — what it will cost, how long it will take, and what you realistically recover at the end.

A matter that is legally sound but takes four years and costs more than the amount in dispute is a matter to settle, not to file. An honest advocate will tell you that at the first meeting.

Limitation is the thing to check first

Almost every claim carries a limitation period, and once it expires the right to sue is gone regardless of merits. Money recovery is generally three years from when the debt became due; a cheque dishonour complaint has far shorter windows measured in days.

If you are unsure how long ago something happened, bring the dates. It is the first thing we check, because everything else depends on it.

How we handle it

  1. 1 Scoping the matter We establish what area the matter falls in and which advocate should take the session.
  2. 2 Documents in advance You send the papers before the session so the time is spent on advice rather than on reading.
  3. 3 Checking limitation The first thing established is whether any period is running or has expired, because it governs everything else.
  4. 4 The session The session is held in Marathi, Hindi or English, whichever you prefer.
  5. 5 Written note A written summary of the advice, the options and the realistic outcomes follows.
  6. 6 Next steps Where action is warranted we set out what it involves, what it costs and how long it takes, with no obligation to instruct us.

Frequently asked questions

Will I speak to an actual advocate?

Yes. Sessions are taken by an advocate practising in the relevant area, not by a general adviser.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Communications with an advocate for the purpose of obtaining legal advice carry statutory protection, and we treat everything shared as confidential.

Do I have to engage you afterwards?

No. A consultation is standalone. Many people take advice and then act on it themselves or through another advocate.

Can the session be in Marathi?

Yes. Sessions are held in Marathi, Hindi or English, whichever you are most comfortable with.

Will you tell me if I do not have a case?

Yes, and that is often the most useful outcome. A matter that costs more to pursue than it recovers is one to settle, and we say so rather than filing it.

What is not included. Government fees, statutory charges, stamp duty, court and registry fees, digital signature costs and any third-party professional charges are separate and payable at actuals. GST applies on professional fees where indicated. Prices shown are indicative and may change without notice; we confirm the total in writing before any work begins — see our terms on pricing.
