Chartered Accountant Consultation
Talk through a tax or accounting question with a qualified CA and get a documented opinion.
A chartered accountant consultation is for the questions that arise before a filing rather than during one — whether a transaction attracts tax, how a structure should be set up, whether a notice is serious, or what a set of numbers is actually telling you.
The value is in timing. Most tax cost is determined by decisions taken before the year end. By the time a return is prepared, those decisions are historical facts and the accountant is recording an outcome rather than shaping it.

Bring the numbers
A consultation on a tax question without the underlying figures produces general principles rather than an answer. Sending the returns, financials or bank statements beforehand is what turns a session into advice specific to you.
It also helps to be candid about anything already done. Advice given on a partial picture is worth very little, and the facts people are most reluctant to mention are usually the ones that change the answer.
What you receive
- A scheduled session of the agreed length, by phone, video or in person
- Discussion in Marathi, Hindi or English
- A written note recording the advice and the reasoning
- A clear position on what to do, with anything time-sensitive flagged
- An estimate of cost where the next step is work we could do
Where we will tell you to go elsewhere
Where the question needs an advocate rather than an accountant — a contractual dispute, a property title question, a criminal matter — we say so rather than answering outside our competence.
The same applies where a matter needs a registered valuer or a merchant banker. Certificates issued by the wrong professional are not accepted, so directing you correctly at the outset saves the cost of doing it twice.
How we handle it
- 1 Scoping the question We establish what you actually need answered and whether a chartered accountant is the right professional for it.
- 2 Documents in advance You send the relevant figures beforehand so the session produces specific advice rather than general principles.
- 3 The session The session is held at the scheduled time in your preferred language.
- 4 Written note A written summary of the advice and the reasoning follows.
- 5 Next steps Where action is needed we set out what it involves and what it costs, with no obligation to instruct us.
Frequently asked questions
Can I take advice without engaging you for the work?
Yes. A consultation is standalone. Many people take advice and then act on it themselves or through their existing accountant.
Why do you want my documents beforehand?
Because a tax question without the underlying figures produces general principles rather than an answer. The documents are what make the advice specific to your position.
Can the session be in Marathi?
Yes. Sessions are held in Marathi, Hindi or English, whichever you are most comfortable with.
What if my question needs a lawyer?
We say so and direct you accordingly. Answering outside our competence would not serve you, and a matter needing an advocate should go to one.
When is the best time to take advice?
Before the transaction or before the year end, while the position can still change. Advice after a return is filed is usually about managing a consequence rather than avoiding one.
