The trademark registry offers an expedited route under which an application is examined in weeks rather than the months an ordinary application waits. The government fee is substantially higher, and the acceleration applies to examination and subsequent stages rather than to the whole process end to end.
It is worth taking where the mark is central to a launch, a funding round or a marketplace listing that will not proceed without it. It is not worth taking simply to have the certificate sooner where nothing turns on the date.

Who may apply on the expedited route
Expedited examination is available on a broader basis than the concessional fee, but the concessional fee itself is limited to individuals, start-ups recognised by the department, and small enterprises holding Udyam registration.
An applicant who qualifies for both the concession and the expedited route pays the expedited fee at the concessional level, which narrows the cost gap considerably. We check eligibility before advising on it.
The limits of speed
Expedited treatment does not improve the merits. A mark that is descriptive will still draw an objection, and it will simply arrive sooner.
Nor does it shorten the statutory four-month opposition window after publication. A determined opponent can still hold up registration for years, and paying the higher fee does not change that.

Examination typically issues within one to three months rather than the longer ordinary wait. Where the application is clean throughout, registration can complete in six to nine months.
Does it guarantee registration?
No. It accelerates the process, not the outcome. A descriptive or conflicting mark will still be objected to, just sooner.
Can the opposition period be shortened?
No. The four-month window after publication is fixed by statute and applies equally to expedited applications.
Is the higher fee worth it?
Where a launch, listing, funding round or enforcement step depends on the registration, usually yes. Where nothing turns on the date, the ordinary route reaches the same place for less.
Do we qualify for the concessional fee?
